About

The Hardacre Film Festival is one of the few precious opportunities those of us in our region of the Midwest have to screen truly independent and underground cinema. One of the primary goals of the Hardacre Film Festival is to bring a diverse selection of cutting-edge independent motion pictures to an Eastern Iowa audience who otherwise would not have an opportunity to view these films.

Iowa is home to some very well-known movie settings (Field of Dreams, The Bridges of Madison County) and is enjoying a surge in the film industry in recent years, both in terms of new festivals (Landlocked, Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival, Backdoor Independent Film Cafe) and major productions (The Final Season, Sugar).

In 2010, we screened 24 films — eight feature-length and 16 shorts — from all around the world.

The Hardacre calls the historic town of Tipton its home. With hospitality like no other and a plethora of other activities in the area, you can make a whole weekend of it!

If you want to come to a festival free of the typical indie film politicking, blatant schmoozing and commercialism, the Hardacre is for you. The focus is cinema as art, and the filmmakers as artists.
